Waking Up Too Early

In a bid to somewhat prepare for a very early call time for our flight to Vegas on Thursday, Alex and I have been trying to wake up at six in the morning. Today was our first official day that we got out of bed at six o’clock and it wasn’t terrible at first. We came downstairs and finished watching that shark movie The Requin (it was terrible, by the way) and all went well until about nine o’clock when I totally fell asleep until sometime after twelve o’clock. On Thursday we need to be at the airport at half six because our flight doesn’t depart until half nine, so in theory I should be able to get by with only three hours of sleep if I only need to be awake for three hours. The real issue at hand is that we’re actually waking up at four in the morning to finish getting ready and then driving to the in-law’s house at five. So now it’s starting to feel a little more chaotic! I’m sure it’ll be fine once we get on the flight, right?

In other news, I sent out my job offer to one of the candidates and I’m just waiting to hear back before messaging my other top picks. I spent a lot of time this morning thinking about what to say to the candidates I wasn’t going to hire and I came to the conclusion that rejection is a bitch. I know how upsetting it feels to be rejected, so I’ve really been trying my best to handle it all carefully. Still, it’s not easy. I hope the person I offered the role to accepts it so I don’t have to keep the others on the hook much longer. I’d really like to get this all sorted before my trip, too!

Tonight I think I’m going to have a bath and do a little bit of pampering. My skin has been so awfully dry and flaky lately, but I can’t tell if it’s down to the recent cold snap, my hormones, or something else! Maybe a little session with my beloved face steamer, followed by a soak in the tub and a facial will do the trick.
