(Author’s note: This entry was written after the fact but the pictures are from this day!)
My dance team drove over to Thanet in Kent for the Heelography Dance Jam. The drive was only an hour and a half so we got there around four in the afternoon with plenty of time to warm up and rehearse in the space. The lineup was a great mix of solos and group performances ranging from lyrical and contemporary to pole to commercial and heels. There were also a few people competing! The vibe of the whole evening was so supportive and fun – everyone was hyping each other up the whole time. It was awesome to see so many different dance styles, too.
At the end of the event the winners were announced and one of our girls placed third for her pole routine!! Then we all chilled out and took lots of pictures before heading back for the drive home. I dropped off the girls in my car and got home around two in the morning.
When I got out of my car to go inside, I put my phone in my pocket and it slipped out. It was dark so I just picked it up and put it back in my pocket, hoping that it would be fine like it usually was. Then I felt the screen and I could feel the cracks. I pulled it out and my worst fear was confirmed: I smashed my phone screen. THIRTY YEARS OLD and I’ve only just now smashed my phone screen?!!!? Ugh. Rubbish end to an awesome day!
