Stormy Nights and Sleepy Days

Last night we had a storm come through and it slammed the windows shut in the bedroom! There was lightning and thunder but it was more of the low rumbling kind than the loud cracking kind. The rain battered the windows for a little bit until I fell asleep. When I got up to use the restroom around four in the morning I saw that the window in the bathroom had been blown open from the gusts of wind earlier, so I’m glad I caught that before all of the cats figured it out and tried to climb on the ledge.

I had a really nice lie in this morning so I could finish off a very captivating dream where I was in a talent/fashion showcase thing with a group of teen ballerinas. Once I got up I decided to give myself a gel manicure and now my nails are looking shiny and feeling strong. I’m glad I bought the gel manicure stuff earlier this year because it’s been so much quicker than painting my nails with regular nail polish! It doesn’t last as long as acrylic nails would, but at least the damage has been more manageable.

Anyway, since I got up so late today I decided to spend the day at home. I played Cities: Skylines and worked on the playlist for my birthday party. I’m going for an early 2000s hip hop vibe with lots of songs for booty bouncin’. I hope people like to dance because that’s what I’m gonna be doing!!

I only snapped one pic today but I actually really like the colours and textures in it. It’s a photo of the petals and face frame for Alex’s sunflower costume when they were stacked up on the coffee table. He has since wrapped the frame in masking tape (so it’s a bit softer on his face) and painted it yellow. The humidity has been over 70% all day (for the last several days, really) so the paint is taking forever to dry. Hoping it’ll be dry enough soon so Alex can test out using ribbon to tie it on his face!

Speaking of Alex, he snapped some pics of Dolo this evening. We’ve had to close the catio for the night because it’s been raining, and now Rosemary is running around the house trying to play with just about anything that he can get his hands on. It’s amazing how much the catio has helped him chill out! Maybe someday I’ll make a little rain shelter so the cats can go outside without getting wet.
