Sealing the Mushrooms

Yesterday the acrylic sealer I ordered was delivered so today we were finally able to seal the mushroom tops! Seeing all of the mushrooms out in the garden was so cool, too. Not long now until they’re out in the front garden!

One of the small mushrooms fell over while the sealer was drying and the stem popped off, so I thought I’d look in our stash of adhesives and sealants to see if we had anything I could use instead of hot glue. I tried some “grip fill” adhesive but even though it came in the same type of gun that caulk comes in, the consistency was more like dry chewing gum. I attached the stems onto the three small mushrooms that didn’t have them, and then for the other four I put some silicone sealant over the hot glue that was already holding the stems to the mushroom tops. My money is on the silicone but I’m going to wait until tomorrow and if the grip fill isn’t dry I’ll probably scrape it off and apply the silicone instead.

I got a new simulation game today called Aven Colony! Basically you’re colonising a planet and need to have enough resources for the colony to survive. So far it’s really fun but still tricky to work out what needs to be prioritised and stuff like that. It was on sale for only £4.99, down from £24.99, so I’d say it’s worth the money.

In other news, Alex helped me bleach some of my hair tonight. We only had one box of bleach so we did a couple of smaller sections in my hair and then I gave Alex a few highlights with what was left. I’ve already ordered a few more boxes of bleach so we can finish off my hair before my birthday party on Saturday, but for now I’ve got some blonde sections mixed in with my faded blue hair. It’s not a bad look, honestly! I’m excited to dye my hair green, though. I hope it turns out nice!
