Decluttering the Attic

I thought I was behind on my journal entries today but I’m not! Last night I stayed up pretty late reading my book so maybe that’s why I’m a little scatterbrained. No regrets, though.

I pretty much spent most of my day second guessing my bathroom design. I had a thought that maybe brass fixtures would complement the pink tiles and the little bit of green in the floor tiles, so I went on an online hunt for everything in order to help me decide. By the time dinner came around I was stuck on finding a brass shower curtain tension rod and now I think I’ve changed my mind back to black fixtures. On the bright side, I think I found a black rainfall shower system and bath filler set that comes with a handheld shower, too!

After dinner Alex and I spent some time decluttering the attic. I like to keep boxes for things incase I need to return them for repairs or even if I want to donate them in the future so most of the attic was chock full of empty boxes. About a week or more ago we spent a little time culling the product packaging I’ve been hoarding and flattening down the ones without moulded inserts and storing them in a big plastic container. Tonight we finally finished the job! Well, I think we did, anyway. Before we decluttered the boxes were right near the opening to the attic so it felt very closed in, dark, and messy. Alex hung up the fairy lights on the rafters and now the attic looks way more cosy. Now we have loads of space and we can actually see what we’re doing!

Maybe we’ll “finish” off the attic in the future so it’s less drafty and feels more legit. I definitely think we could use better floorboards up there, but my priorities are on other things for the time being. For now, this is a good start.
