There is an alarm going off outside. It’s damn near impossible for me to think about anything else until it stops. Even Beatrice is annoyed. Times like these remind me of how much I miss living in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, while that alarm keeps blaring, let me tell you how I spent my leap day!
February 29th doesn’t come around very often, so naturally I celebrated by doing my finances and going to the gym. I know, I know. Riveting stuff, isn’t it? Yeah, well, I guess it can be if you’re me. I’m really making an effort to plan more this month so that our money doesn’t completely disappear without our knowledge, and that basically means lots and lots of budgeting. It’s a little tricky to budget for stuff when I have a proven track record of getting cold feet when it comes to social commitments, so I’m trying to look at it on a case-by-case basis. Hopefully this approach works out and I’ll be able to plan a week or two in advance, although right now it’s all about the baby steps.
Aside from doing my finances, I also dragged myself to the gym for a workout. Good thing I went because I actually managed to beat my lowest time (on the elliptical, because my knees are shoddy at best). I’ve been totally killing it with my cardio lately so I think I may begin to increase the distance a little bit each time. Today I did a mile on the elliptical and then after I stretched and did some leg presses I got on the treadmill and power-walked for about half a mile. I have such a difficult time walking in a straight line on the treadmill that I’m almost worried I’ll knock into the sides and eventually fall to my death.
Oh, and now the alarm has stopped. Fifteen minutes after it began. Whelp… Happy Leap Day!
