It’s Mother’s Day here in the UK, and what better way to celebrate than by surprising my mother-in-law with afternoon tea? A few weeks ago my husband and I got in touch with his siblings and roped them into our master plan and it’s been really difficult not to spill the beans.
Originally I planned on taking lots more pictures during tea, but I was so busy preparing types of tea and plating cakes that I barely even had time to sit down and enjoy my own creations! I have to admit that it was a lot of fun hosting afternoon tea and making sure everyone had a lovely and tasty experience. We took a lot of care in planning and I think it really came through in the execution of it all. We even decorated the flat! I did feel a little stressed at times, but it was well worth the surprise.
Although I do wish I had more photos, I still think the day was a success. I’m actually feeling quite exhausted and my eyes are really struggling to be useful after paying such close attention to detail all day. Sleep sounds like a good idea in a bit, but first I think I’m going to squeeze in an episode of House of Cards as a reward for all of our hard work this weekend.
Tomorrow looks like it’s going to be a busy one for me as I’m beginning my interior design diploma course and going to the gym. As per usual I’ll be resuming my laundry regime so I’ll try and enjoy my minimalist bathroom this evening before putting the clothes horse out again tomorrow. I’ve also got a fair bit of tidying to do in the bedroom since we ended up chucking a bunch of random things in there to avoid excess clutter in the living area.
But all of that can wait until tomorrow. For now I’m going to enjoy the success of the weekend.
