Visiting Friends

Day 2 - Visiting Friends

Author’s Note: This journal entry was written on January 5, 2025 however the photos are from the day itself.

It’s not really a resolution or anything, but something I’m trying to embrace more in my life is friendship. Of course it’s no secret that friendship is one of those evergreen topics to me (see here) so the main thing I’m trying to improve for myself going forward in the new year is showing up for my friends more. Will I be able to pull it off? That’s dependent on a number of variables so we’ll just have to try and see how things pan out.

Anyway, since we had plans down in Portsmouth for NYE, we drove over to Guildford to have lunch and check out my friend Sarah’s new house for the first time! Seeing friends make big life decisions has given me a lot of hope and (weirdly??) I also feel really proud to witness. We ate some Russian pickles (my fave was a pickled trifle apparently normally has fish at the bottom), Alex and I spent a lot of time ooh-ing and aww-ing over the new place, and then we played a new board game called Hues and Cues.

I must admit that I was a little nervous about socialising with my friends. Let this be proof that agoraphobia in December doesn’t mean agoraphobia in January.
