Future Houses

It’s so nice to wake up feeling well-rested and with a clear mind. Yesterday my husband and I walked around town around dusk to drag myself out of a pit of boredom. It was a much needed change of pace and also a good way to pass the time. We walked around streets I’d never seen before and we pointed out houses that we thought were lovely.

Lately we’ve been talking about the future and we’ve both come to the realization that we cannot wait to move out of our flat and into an actual detached house. We’ve learned a lot after living in our flat for over a year but ultimately we have decided that we will eventually need to buy a house. As it turns out, I’m a very picky person and I love having complete control. Living in a flat can be so frustrating when there are things you have no control over, or even if you have no say in the matter. At the end of the day, a detached house is really the best way for me to get what I want.

When we were first looking for a place I was pretty adamant about finding somewhere that didn’t need much work done on it, especially since I was still living in America at the time and didn’t want to move to England to live in a construction site. Now that I’m much more settled here I can definitely see the possibility of renovating a home as a viable option for us in the future. Honestly, I think I would really love to renovate a property and put all of my interior design knowledge to good use!

Obviously we’re not moving anytime soon, although we’ve been talking about it more and more recently as a direct result of some of the external issues we’ve had with the people who manage our property. Let me tell you, it is so infuriating having to send emails and make phone calls every day in the hopes that someone will eventually just fix something for you.
