Boring Bank Holiday

Today was the sort of day you’d expect to see on a postcard: blue skies, children running around the park, daffodils covering the hills in large swathes. What the postcard doesn’t show is the pandemonium happening inside the grocery stores or the droves of people sitting in traffic behind hoards of cyclists clogging the streets. But that’s what you’ve got to expect on a Bank Holiday, isn’t it?

Today wasn’t a bad day at all, but it felt so out of character and discombobulated that it eventually spiraled into a pit of boredom, if you know what I mean. My husband and I set out to have a little picnic on Box Hill, and by the time we made it up the narrow roads we discovered that there was nowhere to park. That’s one of the troubles of living in this town: the best spots get snatched up first. So we decided to go to the local park and just sprawl out in the sun for bit. The trouble with that plan was the fact that it rained all day yesterday and therefore most of the grass was fairly squidgy. Nonetheless, we managed to find a mostly dry patch of grass and had a nice time eating our lunch and watching the skateboarders stack it.

Friday, as you may already be aware, is one of my three workout days of the week. We got ready to go to the gym but when we got there we were gutted to see that the gym was closed! I guess we missed the memo, but either way it totally threw a wrench into my plans. We came home and attempted a workout but it just wasn’t the same and I don’t think I was able to do as much as I normally do on a Friday at the gym.

So, yeah. The day feels like a bit of a waste and I just feel annoyed at the inconvenience of it all. I’m not a huge fan of Easter and I just already feel super bored and incredibly limited due to this silly bank holiday weekend! Oh, and the weather forecast for the rest of the weekend is a lot of rain. Whomp, whomp, whooomp!
