Closing Shop

Yesterday while I was walking back from the gym in a post-workout haze, I stumbled into one of the gift shops in town to check out their closing down sale. This little shop in particular was adorable but always a bit too pricy for my budget, so I was pretty sad to hear the news that they’d be closing shop at the end of the month. Anyway, while I was checking out the sale I was instantly drawn to a selection of bright colored matte tea cup and saucer sets. Mustard yellow is one of my all-time favorite colors and there just so happened to be a few left! I couldn’t see a price and decided to come back today and see if I still liked them.

The first thing I did today after I had my breakfast was rock up to the shop and make sure the tea cups were still there. Once again I checked for the price and when I still couldn’t find any stickers I asked the cashier. The set cost £8.50 but were marked 40% off, so naturally I bought two sets. I tried to resist but I knew that if I waited any longer they would be all gone and then I would forever regret passing up such happy little tea cups!

It’s always a bit sad to see shops closing down that have been in town for years, especially when they’re a shop you always used to love having a look around. The town we live in has a lot of small shops that seem to come and go, and yet there always seems to be a new hairdressers opening up. It’s a bit of a shame, but I can absolutely understand how difficult it must be to run a successful shop in a town like ours. I’m sure another shop similar to this one will spring up in its place, so until then I’ll just have to poke around some of the other gift shops and keep an eye out for more adorable homewares.
