It’s Mother’s Day in America, so let me tell you about my mom.
Her name is Kelly and she is the human equivalent of a ray of sunshine that has been fully versed in conspiracy theories. Blonde and bubbly, my mom always has a good sense of humor even at the worst of times. I’ve learned a lot from her, mainly how to stand up for myself and how to be a problem solver.
My mom is pretty incredible. She’s done so much for me and my brothers ever since we were little babies and I’m so grateful for her influence on my life, from her love of crime thrillers to her eclectic taste in music (everything from Mystikal and Jackson 5 to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack). In addition to just being a super cool mom in general, she also has a proven track record of being a real estate superstar.
Now that I know there is an ocean separating me from her, I realize how much I miss being close to my mom. We talk pretty regularly on FaceTime and it’s always so great to hear about her triumphs at work. She inspires me daily and I am so proud to see her progress and rise to success. She has come such a long way in such a short amount of time but it’s also amazing to know that even with all of her success, she’s always looking ahead.
I wish I could be with my mom today to celebrate how awesome she is, but I guess a nice card and a bag of coffee beans will have to do for now. I can’t wait to spend more time with her the next time she comes to England, and hopefully that’ll be in just a few months. Either way, I hope my mom is having a lovely Mother’s Day in America. Love you, mom.
