It’s the first of November, so naturally it’s my turn to get sick. I guess I was overdue for a sore throat but hopefully I’m able to fight it off before we go down to Brighton later this week. I know it’s not the most original observation out there but being sick really sucks.
Today marks NaNoWriMo day one and it was important for me to get up early and get ready as if writing was my job. Luckily my husband is participating this year, although he’s working on some screenplays at the moment. We went down to the coffee shop at 10am and wrote for four hours, and by the time we came home I had already reached 4,224 words. My target before our holiday in Brighton is 8,335 so it’s comforting to know that I’m over half way there!
So far I’m really enjoying revisiting the characters from last year’s novel. It’s interesting to see where we last left off and to grow their characters a lot more in the sequel. Tomorrow’s going to be pretty similar in terms of structure — wake up early, write until I hit my word count — but we’ve also got to fit in a workout at the gym, too. Hopefully my sore throat doesn’t get in the way too much, but just to be safe I’m going to make sure I drink plenty of water so I wake up in the morning feeling at least a little less sick than I do now.
Anyway, that’s it for today! I’m going to go get ready for bed and I’ll see you tomorrow!
