Bopping to BTS

I’ve had such a good Thursday!! When I first woke up, BTS was already starting day one of their Permission to Dance concerts in Seoul. I probably would have bought a ticket to watch the concert online if I hadn’t booked in to see day three in the cinema on Saturday, but ARMY twitter was really good about sharing pictures and videos. It’s been over two and a half years since BTS last performed in front of a live audience in South Korea. To say that day one of PTD: Seoul was a huge moment for them as a group is an understatement.

The concerts are being held in the Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity upwards of 60,000, however due to COVID restrictions only 15,000 tickets were available for each day. And even with a quarter of the capacity for the venue, concert-goers still had a ton of restrictions. Loud clapping, yelling, chanting, and standing up during the concert have been completely banned. In lieu of clapping, concert-goers were given paper clappers (folded like a fan). Seeing videos from the concert it’s amazing how different the vibe is compared to the concerts from Los Angeles back in November and December. Obviously there are cultural differences between Korean ARMYs and International ARMYs, but it really must have been so hard to hold back excitement at seeing BTS!!

And you could see how excited BTS was to see ARMY, too. To have the faces of ARMY looking back at them in their home country, you can only imagine what BTS must have felt. After the concert Jungkook posted an eight minute long video trying to put his feelings into words and reading the translation made me really emotional. It’s clear that this first concert was a huge step for them, and it does make me sad that they couldn’t hear the fanchants or see ARMYs dancing. The silver lining really is that they were able to do it at all.

I have such a huge admiration for BTS. Watching them perform it’s undeniable how passionate they are for what they do and seeing them do something they love makes me so happy! I can’t wait to see the concert at the cinema over the weekend, too! They have a bunch of new outfits and everyone looks incredible. I’m eager to see if they change the set list at all! I think I saw someone on twitter saying that there were new VCRs (video segments during costume changes).

So when I finally got out of bed and started my day, I was in a really good mood. I put on a cute outfit, played around with my makeup, and then I played Just Dance for the whole afternoon. After watching BTS all morning, bopping around to music was just what I needed!
