Experimenting at the Studio

It was a pretty eventful day at the studio! I made it over there and finally was able to de-mould those candlesticks I poured on Monday. They turned out pretty cool, although some of the wax looks frosted in parts. It could be from the amount of dye I used to colour the yellow wax, or the temperature when I poured them into the moulds. To be honest, there are a lot of variables. I did add fragrance to these candles so it could also be the ratio of fragrance to wax or maybe I didn’t mix them long enough. Regardless, the effect is pretty cool and I would like to try to make more so I can improve a bit.

After I de-moulded the candles, I went ahead and made a few lilac coloured candles to see how they look on their own. I’m really pleased with the colour so it’ll be interesting to see if the lilac candles have any issues with frosting when I return to de-mould them in a day or two!
