Usually when I travel I like to be very thorough about my packing and pre-flight planning. This upcoming trip to Vegas has not given me nearly enough time, but I’ve been making due with what I’ve been given. We took the suitcases down from the attic last night and I was shocked to see that my white carry-on suitcase has yellowed on the front half. I truly have no idea how it managed to change colour since it was shoved up there back in 2019 but it sent me off on a wild goose chase.
After spending an hour scrubbing the damn carry-on with all manner of cleaning products (foam cleaner, bathroom tile spray, toilet bowel cleaner, and bleach) I got so annoyed that I ended up dragging Alex all through town trying to find a new one. Sure, I could pick up a carry-on from Primark or TK Maxx with no issue, however I really love some of the features of my current one. It’s got a hard shell exterior, making it pretty durable. Spinner wheels allow ease of transportation through queues at the airport. Those are pretty common with suitcases, I’ll admit, but a conveniently placed front compartment for laptop storage and a zipper to allow the case to expand are the two things I love most about it. We spent pretty much the entire afternoon searching for a replacement suitcase and we couldn’t find anything that had both of those features. The closest we came was a similar sized carry-on with the expandable zipper.
Defeated, we returned home and I’ve since decided to save my money and cope with my off-coloured luggage instead. My wallet will thank me for the future, I’m sure of it.
Another L we had to take today was when our search for our favourite sunscreen turned up zilch. While we were in town looking for suitcases, we also stopped in to different pharmacies to see if they carried the Palmer’s sunscreen. It’s our favourite because it doesn’t smell like normal sunscreen and it also doesn’t stain clothing. Unfortunately we can’t seem to find it anywhere in the real world anymore so maybe we ought to check online.
Our goose chase wasn’t all bad, though! We stopped in a new supermarket in town and picked up a couple of sodas (one is actually a kombucha – my dietician would be so proud!) and some vegetarian turkish delight. So even though it feels like we wasted the day on something that doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of things, at least we got out of the house when the sun was out.
