My mission to get paint testers was a success! I just finished the final coat of paint swatches on the wall and I’m already leaning towards ‘Fine Cream’ for the whole living room/dining area and ‘Apricot Crush’ as the accent wall color. I think we might go with ‘Soft Peach’ along the big wall in the living room but maybe we’ll try ‘Apricot Crush’ on the wall that we have the TV? Either way, I’m super pleased with how the swatches look and can’t wait to paint in June! It feels so nice to look at these ugly green walls and know they won’t be around much longer.
Speaking of the flat, today we had a consultation about replacing the windows in the living room and kitchen, as well as our back patio doors. The windows are super heavy and a total pain in the butt to open and close, plus they’re not energy efficient in the slightest so it’s quite drafty. As for the back patios they’re just the worst. They’re drafty to the point where we can actually see gaps of light at the joints and where the two doors meet, and they swing inwards rather than outwards so we hardly use them. Unfortunately, our building falls under the historical area of our town so any exterior changes have to go through the council and our landlords, so even though we want to change these things we may not be able to without spending thousands upon thousands of pounds to make sure they meet a certain “historical” criteria. At any rate, we’re seeking quotes now so we can approach the landlords/council and have all of the information so we can go straight from there. I just know it’s going to be expensive, though.
I had a nice time looking around Homebase while we were shopping for paint testers. I’m head over heels for this yellow “Bobsy” vase from Habitat, so I’ll definitely be adding that to my wishlist.
