Today we went walking in the woods around Abinger Roughs and it was mighty pretty. We were invited to go on a dog walk and how could we resist? Grey day aside, the views and the fresh air definitely made up for it. I love walking around areas of Surrey like this, and seeing as how my mother-in-law Lynn knows all of the best trails, we had an excellent guide.
We started walking along the path around 4pm and by the time we made it back to the car it was just after 5:30. In total I think we walked something like 2.5 miles around Abinger Roughs, and honestly I could have kept going. Once we made it back to the car I did have to take my jacket and hat off because I was beginning to feel a little too toasty for my liking.
Walking in the woods really worked up my appetite, and lucky for me we ended up heading to a pub nearby called the Abinger Hatch for refreshments. I tried out a dish called a ‘nut roast’ which was basically a Sunday roast with a nut cake acting as the meat substitute. It was excellent.
I had a really nice time exploring the woods today. There are some days where I forget to even go outside so I generally try to make a point to say yes when someone invites me to outdoorsy stuff. I feel very relaxed and ready for the week ahead. Speaking of, this week I’m determined to finish off the last assignments for my interior design course so I can relax in time for my birthday the following Tuesday.
I didn’t wake up this morning expecting to stroll through the woods, but I sure am glad that I did. Anyway, that’s enough jibber jabber. Enjoy the photos and I’ll see you tomorrow!
