Greedy Birds

We put bird seed out yesterday and the pigeons have been very happy. There are a lot of house sparrows nearby, so I was hoping they would enjoy a little bit of food, but the pigeons are pretty greedy. Occasionally we’ll see a few robins out front, although they are more active in the back garden. As annoying as it is that the pigeons have commandeered the bird feeders, it’s still nice to do a bit of bird watching throughout the day.

Once again the weather has been absolutely lovely. We had the patio door open to the catio all day, and I even got out of bed before eleven this morning to make the most of the sunshine. Alex got a chance to chop the tops off of the tall conifers at the back, too. They were surprisingly heavy once they were removed but I’m glad that they’ve had a trim because they were starting to cast really tall shadows on the lawn.

In other news, we’ve decided to re-book our flights to Vegas. Basically, Alex got an email saying that there was an error with our paid baggage so we were being refunded for that. The baggage issue lead to Alex calling airlines and the third party site we booked through, and it was all getting so stressful. In the end, we looked up how much it would cost to pay for our bags at the airport and compared that to booking directly with the airline, etc. We ended up paying an extra £500 in order to be able to choose our seats on our flights as well as have checked bags. I’m not happy about the added cost, obviously, but I am relieved to have peace of mind that we know where we’re sitting and that we don’t have to pay anything extra at the airport. I just really loathe airlines charging for every little bit of a flight.

Anyway, I’m still in a pretty good mood despite all of that hassle. Sunshine really does wonders.
