Tidying and Crafting

It was so chilly this morning that it was difficult to get out of bed! When we finally did, I was delighted to find a total of four blooms on my pumpkin plants. I wonder if they’ll actually get to grow or if it’s too late in the year for them to really produce anything substantial. Either way, what a lovely sight! The fuchsia were looking just as lovely, too.

After my quick look around the garden, I set my sights on finishing painting the big mushrooms. Last night we painted all of the spots on the large and medium mushroom tops so all that I had left to do was give the underside a lick of white paint. It didn’t take too long but it wasn’t great for my back so by the time I got to the second large mushroom I tapped out so Alex could take over.

Today’s been a sort of busy day. Alex has the week off of work for my birthday tomorrow so he’s been using the time to tidy and clean. I cleared off the bathroom window sill and gave them a good bleach and a good scrub, and then I did the same with the kitchen window sill. Normally it’s covered with orchids and plants that I’m propagating, so it was well overdue for a thorough cleaning. It was good that I spent the time doing it because I was able to throw away a lot of dead foliage and organise my propagation jars so that I can clearly see them the next time I want to propagate something.

I’m feeling a bit less depressed than I was yesterday. It felt good to be able to accomplish something today (tidying and crafting) so that really lifted my spirits. Tomorrow I’m turning thirty-one and I’m hopeful that I’ll have a nice day with Alex. One of my gifts from his sister and her partner was a cinema voucher so I’m really looking forward to going to the movies!! If everything else goes tits up, at least I’ll be able to hide behind a bucket of popcorn or a tray of nachos in a dark room for a few hours.
