Feels Like Summer

It feels like Summer, folks. Well, it feels like Summer for England, anyway. Today was probably the hottest day of the year so far and I have to say it was pretty great. Growing up in Louisiana and Florida I didn’t really like Summer all that much, probably because it lasted way too long and the constant humidity felt like walking through a sweaty cloud. England has much milder Summer weather, and by that I mean it only gets hot for a short while and then goes back to being breezy and generally nice.

The main issue I have with Summer is that it means I am in a perpetual state of sweatiness and I am one hundred percent not here for that. ‘Dewy’ makeup looks can only go so far when your whole body is dripping in sweat from head to toe because England doesn’t really do air conditioning or ceiling fans. It’s kind of ridiculous, really! Last Summer we practically lived with our little desk fan on the highest setting so I think it’s safe to assume we’ll be purchasing a second fan this year.

So, it’s Friday and I’m pretty tired because we just got back from having sushi with the in-laws. The last couple of nights I’ve been really good about shutting off my electronics around 10pm and getting ready for bed but I think tonight has to be a bit of an exception. I went to the gym this afternoon and I had a really lovely bath when I got home. The sun was coming through the bathroom window really low and it lit up the surface of the water at just the right angle so that it was reflected onto the bathroom wall. It was very relaxing and just generally a nice way to spend an hour after the gym, haha.

Anyway, I’m gonna go get ready for bed. See you tomorrow!
