Husband’s Last Day of Holiday

Today has been quite the busy day and as I sit here next to my husband on the sofa I feel very thankful to have him with me. In a moment of spontaneity, we decided to head into town to do some writing and a bit of holiday shopping. He goes back to work tomorrow so we said “Sod it!” and thought it might be fun to get out of the house and have a change of scenery.

During the drive we chatted about our failed attempt at a spontaneous holiday in Brighton, both of us agreeing that it would have been better as a day trip, all while driving through the scenic Surrey Hills. We did a bit of shopping, finally caving and buying new socks and a few holiday ornaments to help us feel more festive. The trouble came after we realized we had somehow managed to make it through the whole day without any coffee, and boy were we exhausted! So we grabbed a couple of lattes and sat in Costa and chatted for a few hours until it was time to catch a movie.

Man, I love my husband. He’s my best friend and it’s so much fun to share ideas and joke about silly shit with him because he just gets me. It seems corny, but I’m so happy I married him. Even though we’ve spent the last two weeks sharing a cold, I’m definitely going to miss having him around during the day once he goes back to work tomorrow.

This week is going to be an interesting one for sure. On Thursday I’ve got a jam-packed day of interior design consultations and meetings, and then on the weekend we’re going with the in-laws to a beer festival in our local town. I’m actually really looking forward to all of the stuff going on this week, I just hope that my immune system can handle all of the social interactions!
