I Finished Writing My Novel!

The title says it all, but I’m going to say it again just so we’re all on the same page: I finished writing my novel! I’m actually quite relieved that I’ve finished writing because about half way through my story I started having doubts about it all, so the fact that I managed to stick it out until the very end is pretty impressive. My novel is a continuation of the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo in 2015, and although the subject matter feels heavier and darker than in the first book, I still think I prefer the original.

Either way, it’s done! Woohoo! In honor of finishing my second novel, we cracked open a bottle of wine and put on some Christmas songs while we made dinner. It seems boring, but it was just what I needed to mark the occasion.

Having finished my novel, I now have all the time in the world to play The Sims 4 again. Oh man, I’ve really missed playing The Sims 4. As soon as I realized I could play it, I screamed and immediately began installing updates. Since I last played, there’s been a new expansion pack introduced called City Living. I was so tempted to buy it in the Origin Black Friday sale, but honestly it was only 25% off the regular price so I figured I might as well wait until I’ve got enough money to get it, haha.

Going back to my novel briefly, I just want to take a moment to reflect on how bittersweet it is to finish a story and know that you won’t be continuing it again. At the end of the second book in my series I managed to tie up almost every loose end to the point where I feel content in leaving it where it ends. It was interesting having to pick up a story where I left it last year, and sometimes it felt like more of a hinderance than anything else. All in all, I’m happy to put an end to my story and I’m looking forward to coming up with a brand new one for next year.
