Just Dance

I’m so tired lately from dance class, but since I busted out Just Dance on Friday I’ve been wanting to play more of it. Since I didn’t have any other plans for today, and partly because we woke up at noon, I decided now was as good a time as any to fine tune the camera set up for our game console.

Now, our living room isn’t small, but it isn’t the biggest space. In order to use Just Dance, you really do have to position the PlayStation camera far enough away so that it can see your hands when your arms are extended, as well as your feet on the ground. Our living room just isn’t very deep, I guess! Alex came up with the idea to push the sofa towards the TV instead of back against the wall, and that really made all of the difference.

Once the angle of the camera was sorted, we ran into the next issue: lighting. The moody lighting in our living room is nice and cosy for every day use, but it really isn’t great for the PlayStation camera. For a solid ten minutes today the camera refused to acknowledge my existence at all but it would easily zero in on Alex when he stepped in the frame. Eventually we resorted to adding a ring light into the mix and that seemed to help quite a bit.

After all of the technical difficulties were solved I spent a couple of hours dancing and working up a massive sweat. I had a lot of fun doing it, too! At one point I even took a break to eat some peanut butter toast before diving back in for another half hour of dancing. Overall I would say it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

For dinner tonight Alex made a leek and potato pie which was super tasty and just what I needed after all of that dancing. Today’s journal photos were taken with our old Olympus Pen digital camera and I think they look pretty good. I’m considering taking it with me when we go to Vegas so I don’t have to lug around my heavy Nikon D7000. My main hesitation with taking the digital camera is the quality of the photos, so I’m going to use the Olympus Pen over the next week to see how I like it for my photo journal. It would be great if I decide to take it with because then I think I could take it in to the concert!!

And the last thing I wanted to add is the video from dance class on Friday! I was so nervous for this routine when it came time to perform but I think we all totally smashed it. My whole group really brought their game and everyone looks amazing! It’s hard for me to watch it back because I find myself so cringey doing ~sexy~ routines like this, but it was worth the agony to be able to see how well I did.
