Daffodils and Candlesticks

** Content warning: weight, weightloss. **

I went to my first weigh in with the “Why Weight” weightloss referral program I’ve been doing since October 2021. It was my first ever time doing a weigh in for a weightloss program, so I don’t really know what I was expecting, but it did bring back memories from all of the times when I was growing up and had to get weighed at the doctors’ office. Those memories weren’t very happy for me, either! Anyway, the nice lady measured my height (169cm), then she made me step on the scale (110kg) before she calculated what my target weight will be for the next weigh in in June (104kg).

At first I didn’t know how I felt about having a “target weight” that I’ve got to reach by a certain time. It made me feel icky, like I would get in trouble and be told off if I don’t lose the weight by then. When I came home and told Alex about it, he immediately said he didn’t like how they were treating me even though he wasn’t there. But, he’s kind of right? Like, this weightloss program hasn’t really given me much help other than phone calls to talk about what I’m eating, how I’m exercising, and now this weigh in. It’s still all up to me to lose the weight. They haven’t given me a roadmap on how to do it by any means. Granted, I do understand the concept of dieting and exercising to lose weight, but there is a real lack in overall support and encouragement.

Anyway, despite starting my day off that way, I would say it’s been a pretty good Monday. On the way back from the doctor’s office I stopped and took pictures of all of the daffodils covering the hills. There are so many patches around our town filled with daffodils, and now that they’re all blooming I just had to take some pictures. It really feels like Spring is finally here!

I also spent some time over at the studio this afternoon packing up Candle Club orders and making some candlesticks. I wanted to try a funky design with the wax so I played around with a couple of colours and I think they turned out pretty interesting. I’m going to head back in tomorrow to de-mould them and then maybe I’ll make a set of plain ones. The candlesticks aren’t quite ready for sale yet since I’m still figuring out the direction I want to go with them, but I would like to release some soon!

And that about sums up my Monday so far. I’m planning on doing a scalp treatment to help my dry scalp calm down a bit, then I think Alex and I are going to watch a scary movie. See you tomorrow!
