Spiders, Be Gone!

Ugh, I despise spiders. Last year I was terrified of them but now I’m actually able to kill them without getting to freaked out. Last night there was a “Giant House Spider” (yes, that’s actually the name of the spider!) in our bedroom. I assume it got in through the massive gap in our patio doors so our priority for today was to buy really thick draught excluders and install them in the bedroom. We’re both super fed up with these doors because they are absolute shit, but now that we’ve put new draught excluders in the cracks it actually seems like they’re working! The bedroom even seemed a little quieter, which is truly amazing. I guess the real test will come during the week when people are walking to their offices in the morning.

It was a really nice day so we walked around town and ate our lunch on the picnic tables by the church, then we carried on with our shopping. We got a couple of little lavender plants because I read online that spiders dislike mint and lavender plants, so we’ll see if we’re able to deter any little spiders from hanging out on our windowsills. I tell you what, lavender plants smell so freaking amazing. The ones we got aren’t even flowering yet but you can still get a good waft of fragrance when you walk by. I think we’ll probably get a couple more pots for the back patio but that’ll have to wait a bit because I’ll also need to re-pot them in a few weeks and I just don’t have the time to do that right now.

Tonight we’re going to a friend’s birthday party and I think we’re both looking forward to having some drinks and socializing. It’s good to know that we don’t have to go very far and that we can come home easily if we have a bad time but I feel like it’s going to go well. We even bought a bottle of wine for the birthday girl, so it’s bound to be all right!

Anyway, I think we need to get going if we’re going to show up fashionably late. See you tomorrow!

day 135 spiders, be gone!
